hello all...wondering if you can help!!!
Have had the starter motor replaced last weekend in my 52 reg SW and the mech noticed oil in my water tank. he drained it (didnt have time to fully flush out however) and said see what its like today. low and behold its back in there today.
no other HG symptoms, car runs fine, no overheating, and i cant see any coolant in the oil?
could this be something else before i shell out for a new hg, but if i did what could i expect to pay for this?

I would probably get it flushed and then see if it comes back. What you saw today could be what had stuck to the pipes when the system was drained.

im not sure if they would charge extra for it, but they would be able to do it at the same time as a service. I had a leak on my radiator so I got the whole lot done at once. Full service, cam belt, coolant flush ect.

hmmm. ok thank you!
I am wondering if its not the HG, I only had it 8 months and wondering if it was done preivously..no service records.
i have had hg go and driven for miles after (one did another 10k) so assume that as there is no other symptoms its ok to continue driving for a nother week or so. only do 20 miles a day.#

Its probably the headgasket, or something along that lines allowing the main oil gallery to mix with the water
I dont suppose it has a heat exchanger yours? (i think they were only really seen on 406's, but who knows)

Probably looking that way. Get a pressure test done its a stand and wait job. It will tell you straight away.
