Does anybody know if the join from gear linkage to gear box do they just pop off

they do..... get a pry bar under it or an open ended spanner that just fits either side of the joint and prise off

Seen as though u are good at answering my questions do u know how to lock crankshaft off when I change cambelt I know camshafts have holes in that line up when at tdc
