Just a quick one.

Had my mot in October which said there was slight play in the lower suspension ball joint on each side.

On top of that, the car for a while now really enjoys going left when left to cruise, especially with more people in the car.

So im putting two and two together and thinking two new wish bones may be on order.

Agreed?

If there's play in them then it would be a good place to start.

from experience do not buy cheap ones from ebay, I changed one and it was pulling when accelerating again within two months, bought another one from eurocarparts (or carparts4less if you want the same part cheaper!) and it was sorted, it wasn't much more either Sad

The lower ball joints are the only thing holding the wheel hub to the wishbone. Plenty of horror stories and a few pictures about what happens if the ball joint pops apart.

Even before that happens you will seriously increase tyre wear and can wreck a set of tyres in 2,000 miles or less so it is a false economy to leave them.

If that is £110 total rather than £110 per side it isn't a bad price.

Well its the ball joints and not the wishbones that got an advisory maybe...but if you can get wishbones and ball joints all fitted for £110 thats too cheap...u need to look into that quote closely...

You can't change the ball joints without the wishbones on a 206.

1) Edward is correct.
2) £110 is NOT too cheap. Even without trade discount quality parts can be bought for between £50 and £60 total.

OK not genuine Peugeot but the price I have stated would get a QH (Quinton Hazell) part and they are a respected UK manufacturer / supplier operating since 1946 that started out specialising in ball joints.

While QH has now been owned by several parent companies they have always been and are a well respected parts supplier. Ownership of QH has always been to strengthen the portfolio of the buying company not because QH are in trouble.

I know I can go to www.buypartsbuy.co.uk and my local motor factor will beat their delivered price for QH parts by 10%.

Buypartsbuy price is £57.82 for a pair and that includes delivery and they are QH parts. So I take that quote to my local supplier and he will sell me the QH manufactured arms for £26 each.

Ball joints are pressed into the wishbone, very difficult to remove / replace and not sold separately by anyone.
