Why the hell would you ruin a 180 putting a boring auto gearbox in it!! Real drivers drive manual! Wink

lee1958 do not use a main dealer. Anyone can work on the basics of these cars. Now if you were having the cambelt done you might want to use someone with experience but not he basics like MOT.

Total parts price for full front pads and disks is about £60 - £70 but that isn't main dealer prices. NOTE: £60 - £70 covers total cost not per wheel cost.

Use an independent garage.

I had a service plan so it was free for both.

I used to have my brothers mate who would do things at very good prices he would never take the p**s at all but he p**sed me off when he never got back to me last time and kept me on the lurch but as soon as my bro wanted something boom he was there so I thought f*ck him.

If I get a stupid bill I will double check it with someone else and see if I really do need it or they are chatting crap, and also whether I'm being fobbed off.

I have no intentions of paying ridiculous bills if that's what it sounded like, but at least it's a start. I can always ask someone I trust if what they say is legit, then get him to do it for cheaper anyway. But if the services were free (the service plan was transferred to me I didn't pay for that either) then I will make use of the free services.

I will let you all know the verdict, I.e. what if anything is said.

And who pays for the "service plan" and just what DOESN'T it cover?

Discs
Pads
Clutch

All items like these are likely to be "consumable" and excluded from a "service plan."

So your service plan isn't free (and garages don't sell service plans to make a loss on them) nor, I suspect, will consumables be included.

Good luck. I hope, when you need them, you find someone to replace your brother's mate. I hate to see the bills garages throw out but posh premises are expensive. Also main dealers are trained to repair cars to "as new" rather than to a suitable standard taking into account age etc.
