Hi all
Just wondered if anyone could enlighten me, checked speedo whilst aproaching a speed camera, was doing 30ish, but speedo was showing 5mph. For the next half mile or so would fluctuate between 5-15 mph, even though i was traveling 30-40mph, then all of a sudden the car gave a surge of power and speedometer went back to normal.
Car been ok since. Hoping its just an hiccup with the ecu, and doesn't return.
Any answers, sugestions would be most appreciateive, just in case the problem returns. (as they normally do). Very Happy

Is your car multiplexed? And do you have any abs faults at the moment?

So apparently everyone knows my financial situation? If I wanted a 180 I would have bought a 180 simples Smile

Passenger side ring is cracked, on most of the multiplexed 206's this is what the speedo takes it's signal from. I have the same problem, every once in a while the spedo fluctuates when the abs reading isn't happy. New ring will fix both problems, nothing wrong with the ECU.

If you measure your driveshafts, I have 2 ABS rings sat in the garage brand new that I bought and found to be the wrong one's for mine. Your welcome to have them for what I paid for them.

Really not worth the money mate, I got 2 rings for £10, typically mine were the smaller slightly more expensive one's. The right set cost me £16.

Hi Lee, Meant full unit £60, 2 shafts (gearbox ,wheel) cv joint, gaiter, reluctor ring, all complete as one unit, to bang straight in.
Just that i read on here a lot about cv's going, mines never been touched, from car being new, (9years) this now bears the question how long do cv joints last, does it pertain to bad maintenance, driving habits, or just wear and tear, should i change mine even though its ok. Whats your thoughts Lee.

CV Joints as long as there not permanently abused shouldn't cause any trouble. As long as there's no knocking/clicking/clunking from them and the gators haven't split then I would just leave them.

Was it just the speedo or was the rest of the instrument panel acting up?

This would be speedo taff, not related to your problem.
