I have a GTI with the standard CD player in well tape player. I got the stereo out my XSI to replace the one in my GTI. It worked perfect in my XSI but for some reason it won't work in the GTI. I have checked all the wires and fuses these are fine. I have even tried another CD player in the car , this won't work either. Can any one help ??
Thanks

Are the two cars the same electronics systems? Non-Mux or Mux?

Is the steering column radio stalk a long thin one or a short shubby one?
Long and thin is pre-mux, short and shubby is multiplex. The radio has to come from the same type.
So what is the GTI's stalk and what was the XSi??

That's crazy design. I know mux/BSI system is tricky but this is mad. What about after market systems? Really no way around this?

yes you can fit aftermarket no probs but not plex and non plex set ups also the plex ones are coded to the ecu for each car so try fitting a plex one into another plex car and it will just bleep at you every 3 seconds.

i'm sure somebody out there can recode them but not sure if its really worth the hassle as aftermarket ones are so cheap nowdays and better than the standerd ones.

With pp you can recode, but I don't know about non mux to mux.
