Ok, so my bulb went out the other day so i thought fine i shall check the fuse's, they were all ok, i put it on main beam and it worked, so i replaced the bulb and the dipped beam still didnt work, i replaced it back to the old one and the dipped beam came back on and worked for the whole day.
Next day, no dipped beam again, so i drove around with no dipped beam for a few days *early mornings wasn't great as i hate people who dont replace bulbs*
Then i come to change the bulb again just to check if a new one will work, one of the pins on the old bulb had snapped off inside the connector and bent over, and part of the connector had melted.
I put a new bulb in and after a wiggle around it came on.
I just need to know what might have caused this to start happening, how to stop it happening anymore.
All the fuses are still fine, the bulb that the pin broke on was still fine but useless.
All fuses have been checked *just so you dont ask me if i checked the fuses*

One of my dipped beam plugs melted to the point where it just crumbled off. Still not got around to replacing it, I just cleaned the connectors off and plugged it back in. Not had a problem since.
Have you got higher wattage bulbs in? Having said that I had 100w bulbs in at one point and they were fine.
Its probably down to poor connection; Not pushed on properly, broken like you said or dirty contacts causes arcing. This creates more heat than normal and can melt plastic etc.

This is the 1st time i have had to replace my bulbs.
Never touched them in the year or so ive owned it.
Bulbs are normal ones, nothing fancy.

I would still say poor connection down to the broken pin. I decent scrap yard will probably cut you a plug of something for free.

what bulbs have you got i have h7 adaptor in my room sitting from when i had a 206 i can send it to you if you want?

Fairly normal I'm afraid. Mine used to have this problem occasionally. Easy enough job to cut the connector off and replace with a new one (preferably join the wires with a screw-based connector to make things even easier next time). If you don't want to do it yourself a half-decent independent garage will do it for beer money in about 10 minutes.

High resistance in the circuit is what causes melted connectors.

It's a very low resistance across the terminals or to earth that creates the heat so water ingress or dampness will do it as will terminals nearly touching enough to make a circuit. The bulb is low resistance and that's why it's hot. High resistance in the circuit will make the bulb function badly or not at all

And Dan, yeah thats the bit *well just the bottom h7 connector*
I take it i'd have the cut the wire about an inch back, then do the same on mine and place a screw connector in its place.

Nah not at all, you can remove your old loom in 1 peice like this, where te wire plugs into the headlamp on the top, squeeze the notch with a screw driver that's what I used as my lights were on the bench being stripped for bin, then push inside the lamp, then remove the 2 h7 plug and pull out, just do the opposite to fit this one

I thought that was a h4 - h7 adapter?
Sounds awsum if its just the whole section.

Nah i removed that from my old crystals when i purchased some masked 1's back last year
dont be silly no use to me mate, rather see it help someone out than sitting hopelessly!

Can anybody point me in the direction of where to buy one of these, i can only find a 2 cabled version.
Also could someone point out where the grey connector end is under the bonnet.
