Never had a problem in over 3 years, had a new battery a year or so ago.

My OH just rang leaving work and it wouldn't start.

Key turns, ignition came on, lights and radio work etc etc.. but then wouldn't turn over. Didn't even try, just nothing.

Took key out.. tried again and it started straight off.

Nothing flashed up on the display, either. 53 reg facelift. Any ideas?

It's only done it once? I wouldn't worry about it. If it does it again, remove the key, lock and unlock the doors and try again.

Just thought I'd continue with this thread rather than starting a new one.

I've got a 2005 GTi, started to notice that its taking a little longer to start up from a cold start..

Whenever I start the car, I usually turn the key to 'ignition ON ' let the fuel pump prime for 5 secs than fire her up.

But even with that its struggling now.

Could me coil packs or battery be on the way out?

get the battery tested, most garages will do it for free mate that would be my 1st option.

I've still not had this starting problem happen again - forgotten about it now.

Is it struggling to turn over? - Battery?

Or is it struggling to catch? - Fuel pressure? etc

Someone with a bit more general knowledge should be able to help.
