Hi Guys,
I've got a 206 LX 1.4 Petrol, and the gear stick has become a bit wobbly/jelly like, (there's a more-than-normal amount of play in the gear stick, indicating the rubbers have worn).
I've been looking at a replacement, but wanted to know if anyone's got a how-to or rough guide about how I'd go about changing the gear linkage?

One of the simplest things to change, only thing you need to remove to gain access is the pipe from the throttle body to the airbox. Then they just pull on and off, but you will probably need something like a pry bar to pop them off, and a pair of mole grips or something similar to pop the new ones in.

I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to fiddling around in the engine bay/underside of the car - I work mainly in audio systems and ICE.
Where abouts is the throttle body/airbox pipe?

You'll see it straight away, sits between the side of the engine and the battery.

leave it in neutral and you'll be fine, just try not to let the ball pop out on the linkage.

they can be absolute pigs to do as ive been doing them recently. 13mm and 14mm spanner seem to be a half decent way to pop them off (lever the 13mm against the 14mm)
else have a pry bar and catch the edge of the linkage and pop it that way off. youll see how it works when your looking at it.

do the linkages 1 at a time so you dont get mixed up with which one goes where

does the 180 have the same linkages or is there a different setup for these?

180 Uses cables not rods so that it clears the exhaust manifold.

I believe thei'r both the same.
Mind you don't break off the balls when you pull them.

Does the 206 1.4 HDI replace the same as above? Would like details on complete removal at gear shift end too please?
