Awaiting the arrival of a set of crystals to upgrade from the frosted single optics on my 2000 1.4LX (pre-plex) I was led to believe that if it has a compatible stalk it's a straight plug and play with no BSI to worry about.
So off I go looking on the internet to find out which stalk is which and see a variety of them. No problem me thinks, just look for the identical one.
This is what I have on the car
Now the problem comes when I look at various ads online I see the same stalk listed as being compatible with dual optics and other ads saying not. My question is are there a number of these stalks that look identical but have different internals? Or are certain sellers online simply adding a few quid to the same part and passing them off as different spec?
Is there an easy way to check whether this stalk is going to work on dual optics before fitting the lights? I'm not bothered if I have to go buy a relay kit etc but I can really do without the hassle of putting the new lights in then having to have a long trek to the nearest place I can get the kit.
Cheers guys

I think you need 625379 (£86.76 new)
This is the listing for the pre-plex 180 and there are 4 different switches listed, but only one for the crystals.

Cheers Macca, spot-on help as ever.
I've seen the same stalks advertised for a lot less on Ebay but they're still around the £50 mark with delivery. So I think I'll get a realy etc and hook the lights up with the method Ben describes in his How To and when we come to sell the car in years to come I can simply swap the lights back, remove the relay etc and keep the crystals for the next car. Plus I can get heavy duty wire and connectors from work so if I just get a relay for a few quid it's a lot cheaper and with heavy duty wiring if the crystals can take the heat from 100w main beam bulbs (with 55w on dipped) I could pop them in for those winter nights on unlit stretches of the A1
Thanks matey
