Unplugged my Sony radio yesterday which worked fine for a year and a bit to test if my mates radio would work, when i plugged mine back in the faceplate wont light back up.

Every now and again the unit seems to make a wizzing noise like its trying to eject but nothing more. I have tried repeatedly unplugging and plugging it back in and pressing the rest button on the radio but stilll nothing Sad

Hi,

Was it ages since you removed the faceplate last time?

Apart from obvious spray on the gold contacts you should try bending them IF that turns out to help.

However, since you plugged another headunit in there maybe you blew a fuse. Check with a multimeter once you find the right one.

The whiring noise could be the other connection being still OK (permanent +ve) used for the radio memory and CD ejection with ignition OFF.

Hi thanks for your reply and i think so, its probably been on their for almost a year. i checked the fuse on the back of both units and they both seem to be ok.

I will see what i can do with a multi meter. just seems strange how it was all only unplugged for a second then plugged back in again.

There should be another fuse actually in the cabin fuse compartment (near BSI) for stereo.
