I'm talking about taking it apart. The glue on mine was solid, almost like window putty. A bit of heat softens it enough for you to pull the lens and rear section of the unit apart.
Putting back together is easy. Just some mastic in the groove of the back section and put the lens in place. Squeeze together and heat the tabs up so you can bend them back into place. Because it looked messy on the edge of the lens, I put black insulation tape over the join and up to where the clear plastic bends round (it's all hidden by bodywork anyway). Bit more heat shrunk the tape and made the adhesive stickier and hopefully that will be an extra barrier to keep the moisture out if I missed with the mastic anywhere.

Depends what type of rear light. Pointless masking standard phase 2s. If you had chrome lexus style then you may be able to do them. Depends how they are constructed I suppose.

Some Lexus style lights split. But not all IIRC.
