My cigarette lighter socket was intermittent, as well as the plastic ring being broken, then it stopped working altogether so (Which was quite annoying when trying to use satnavs and things) so I investigated.

I'm currently looking at this:

IIRC, that's the same way they were connected (Blue in middle, Green/Yellow on the outside) but not 100%. (I still have the other pieces to fix the plug)

Will I run into any BSI problems or anything if I try to refit the wires to the plug and connect a new lighter?

I had the same issue, I just disconnected the battery to avoid issues, refitted them and it worked, that plug is a B****** to get in and out though.

Thanks for the replies! I'll be sure to disconnect it to be safe. Can anyone confirm whether or not the wires are the right way around? I don't have a multimeter handy.

I *think* they are, not 100% sure though, It was a few weeks ago when I was last looking at them.

I put wire numbers and pin numbers on this thread the other day. It might help you identify where the wires go.

Problem solved! I bought a new lighter assembly off eBay for £17 and repaired the wires, it was grey, blue then green/yellow. Once I had plugged everything in I still had nothing, then I realised the fuse had blown.
After replacing the fuse I now have a working 12V Socket Smile
