Hi I've recently been offered a 206 gt for swap for my car I'm just wondering is it really worth anything? It's 2000 40thousand on clock full history and mint but it was cat c. I just wondered a rough guide before I swap as I'd proberly keep it but if I was to sell what would it make roughly? And it is definately a gt!

Thank you

Hi mate. Well I picked my GT up with 118 thou on the clock with a few dings and and a cracked rear bumper for 800 but with mot and tax. I think at the moment they are at their rock bottom prices and go from anywere between a 1 & 2 grand depending on condition miles etc. But they are getting rare now so in the future might be a good investment Very Happy

Shame it's a cat C & will also show up on VCAR as condition alert.

If it really was that mint why didn't the person that repaired it get it inspected & have the VCAR status changed to condition inspected Wink

The GT was never special in any way. Not worth any more than a GTi. The best condition car is worth the most.

It had electric folding mirrors (the GTi didn't), it had 16" alloys (the GTi didn't), it had metallic paint as standard (the GTi didn't), it had unique dials (the GTi didn't), it had unique bumpers (the GTi didn't), it was a limited edition of 400 RHD (the GTi wasn't), machined aluminium fuel cap (the GTi didn't), body-coloured bumper/door strips/front wheel arch extensions (the GTi didn't).

No, it wasn't special in any way.

I got a dig bick.

Soooo much of what you said is incorrect. Some fat bumpers and electric folding mirrors do not make a car special.

Soooo much of what I typed was taken from Peugeot's 1999 press release.
Bear in mind that the GTi had 15" alloys & plastic filler cap at that time. The GTi was, in reality, just a 2-litre 206 in an XS's body. Nothing special.

There fugly with those stupid bumpers & nothing special.

The GTi had 15" wheels for a relatively short time. For the same price as a GT you can get the GTi that came with 16" wheels and the alloy filler cap as standard.

So basically they dulled the GTi down initially to make the GT look good. The year 2000 onward GTi's had all the worthwhile GT bits but without the silly bumpers.

Saying the GTi was an XS with a 2 litre engine is like saying an XS is the same as a 1.1 but with a bigger engine. The GTi was significantly different to an XS is both mechanical and interior spec.

Trind at the end of day the mate its your choice I personally really like the look of GT's, the rareness of them, the history behind them and the fact they can get these kind of marmite reactions lol. What car would you be swapping for it?

At the end of the day it's still a 206, all most people see is a old p**s poorly built French hatchback ragged around by idiots Wink
