Hi there, I have come here for some of your expert advice.

Here's the story:

Our 206 GTI has been a bit rough idling for a while and the REVS will go up and down from about 700 up to 1500. I thought this was probably the MAF or idle control valve needing a clean or something. This may not be related but thought I'd mention it.

Today I was driving up a hill at about 45MPH. Suddenly I felt a dip in power in the pedal, it regained power again for about a second and then the engine completely cut out and I came to an abrupt stop with the car behind me nearly crashing into me. There were no bangs or anything, the car just cut out but the electrics were still working. Engine light was on.

The car would turn over and crank when trying to start it but nothing. Using my obd2 port with torque produced no errors (probably due to it being a cheap obd reader I suspect as the CEL was on).

I checked the engine, no leaks, no smoke, no nothing. Coolant and oil temps were in normal ranges. I could hear the fuel pump prime when turning over the ignition. It just would not start. I thought it might be something do with the coil packs/spark.

45 minutes later the AA guy suspected a fueling problem. He disconnected the fuel line at the fuel injectors and put some explosive easy start or something in and the engine started. He then suspected maybe the fuel dial was out and perhaps the fuel tank was empty. He put a gallon of fuel in. No start. He disconnected the fuel line just before the injectors again and turned on the car priming the pump. Fuel sprayed out of the fuel line.

So, he deduced that the injectors weren't working. He thinks it is probably the chip that control the injectors has fried. He said the ecu is telling it to fire fuel in the cylinders but somethings not obeying. He dropped off the car at a local garage and off he went.

What do you guys think the problem is? Do you think it is the fuel injector chip? Any other possibilities. He said it's probably not the crank shaft something or other as it would also prevent ignition? Do you think this is a fair assessment and how much do you think it should cost to fix?

Well I think you might have a problem with your coil pack,since you got the engine light on,get it checked with a Peugeot specialist .
