Hi All,
If anyone could help with this issue would be hugely appreciated!
I bought my Peugeot 206 1.4 LX several months ago and in the last few weeks I've noticed this god awful pinging noise while driving. It tends to start while I'm on a hill with Hand brake up or it can just be while I'm driving along. It's totally sporadic too! One day you'll hear nothing. I reckon it's the clutch but unsure how to tell. The best way I can describe the noise is to say it sounds like elastic bands pinging. Lots of them! (Sorry if I've not given enough info)

If it's after the handbrake has been applied and released, could be a broken or loose spring in one of the drums.
I had this terrible ping noise where the handbrake would feel like it was stuck on and the shoe wasn't releasing until you started moving. Ended up being the brake shoe material had come away from the shoe itself and was causing the drum to jam on.
