Just bought a gti, Had it about 2 weeks, Fitted a janspeed backbox and a K&N open cone filter,

Iv noticed in the rain that the car sometimes leaves an oil splurge when parked up running but not a great deal as in you cant see thick drops of oil on the concrete, just as if a couple have drops have touched the water and dispersed, i have tracked it down to being the rear rocker cover as it apears to be running from the coilpack area down the side of the block and pooling in the casting of the gearbox,

BUT... In 2 weeks and around 600 miles of ownership, it has lost enough oil from being completely full on the dipstick and on the dash display, to the MIN line on the dipstick and Min_ _ _ _ _ _ on the display,

Also, If driving the car normal the dipstick stays in fine, But if on a exaggerated drive say taking the car past 5000 rpm the dipstick will blow out of the dipstick tube....

I really don't think the rocker cover can have lost that amount of oil whilst driving round ? as i used to have a saxo VTS which are renowned for crap rocker cover sealing, and this used to leave large amounts of oil on my driveway... when leaking worse than what my 206 looks,

My freind also pointed out that when the oilcap is removed from the engine whilst running it blows alot of oil out, i thought this was normal but the same amount doesnt seem to be blowing out of the rear rocker cover when the breather pipe is disconnected ?

Is this possibly valve stem seals on the intake side of things ? or are my rings shot or is this normal ?

Does anyone know the reason two why this large engine only has one breather pipe on the exhaust rocker cover a posed to most 16v engines having one coming from both rocker covers ?

Does anyone know what the compression should be on these engines ?

Going to give it a full service at the weekend and seal the rocker covers

Also if the cars been sat sometimes for example last night, came home from work at about 6.30 parked up, went back out at 8.30 and the car didn't start up until like the 4th or 5th its done this a few times now which makes me think maybe there's oil getting into the cylinders, but when warm the car fires up pretty much as soon as the key is turned

However, My valve stems where shot in my 206 XSI jp4 and that used to kick out allot of blue smoke on start up after it had been sat and you could strongly smell the oil in the exhaust, But with this i cant see or smell any smoke ?

there's also no oil getting in the water to eliminate hg issues, The car is also still pulling very strong, Car has good history just gone onto 90,000 miles and i bought it of a mature older owner who has had it some years

It looks like you are considering all the right options but sorry I can't help you with the detail. Make sure the breather pipes aren't blocked.
