Hi again, I got a strange fault shortly after fitting new front brake discs and pads on my X-reg 206 2.0 HDi. The ABS warning light has come on. I am quite certain there is no ABS on the vehicle as it doesn't have the associated module, fuses and there are drums at the back. That despite the obvious test of locking the wheels up under an emergency stop. Anyway the warning light is somehow linked to the brake pedal. When you press the brake pedal, the light goes out. It comes back when you let go of the pedal. There are no electrical wires going to the callipers.
The only obvious wire is the connector going to the brake fluid reservoir. Admittedly that looked pretty dirty with brake fluid residue when I was removing excess brake fluid while changing the brakes (I had the push the pistons back a very long way, the old discs and pads were in very poor shape).
Does anyone know why the ABS warning light is wired up on a non ABS 2.0 HDi?

Check the switch under the glove box for the brake lights. Mine had popped out causing a similar fault a while back.

Quite certain or do you know for positive? As any answer at this point is just speculation. Go and check behind the NS headlight for an ABS pump. There are no wires on the caliper for ABS either, it's tapped off a ring on the driveshafts.

I just had the N/S wing off recently to replace, it and the headlight was out for that obviously. There was nothing behind it. Also, it checked the fuse diagram in the owners manual and looked for the corresponding fuses in the engine compartment fuse box, there was nothing there.
EDIT: mine is an LX model, quite low spec.

Had a look at the brake light switch. It hadn't really come loose. I pulled it out to have a closer look. The ABS light is directly linked to that switch so perhaps the switch is faulty?

The problem has now somehow fixed itself. For the last 2 weeks the warning light has stayed off. Case close I guess.
