Hi there..
OK, this is really killing me.. I have spend over £100 on MoT fees and this thing still isnt fixed.. Let me explain. You know where the wishbone connects with the hub?? Well, the pin from the wishbone goes into a hole in the hub, which is then held in place with a bolt. Well, on my car, a 2000 206 L D, I cant seem to get this pinch bolt tight enough to prevent it from moving. It moves ever so slightly, but it's still a fail.
A few questions..
Is the pin meant to be a bit free to pivot, or is it meant to be rock solid?
If so, and if I cant get it tight enough, can I use something in there like that steel putty or weld it or something so it doesn't move??
If this is a common problem, is there any unique 206 fix for this??
Man thanks in advance
Simon

So the ball joint won't stick in the bottom of the hub tightly? Like the hole is slightly too big? Sounds like you need a new hub.

You cant do the nut up properly that goes through the hub? What did your garage suggest? Its all a tight squeeze down there so there should be no movement, unless the balljoint is knackered.

If it works it will be temporary. And then will it come apart afterwards? I'd do it properly.

Thanks

You sure its not just the pinch bolt thats stripped its thread? Ive had it a few times and it ends up with the same problem.

Shut it u stupid little f**k, what's the point in posting in all my treads being such a c***? Least I can afford a gti180, and to get the cam belt done!

So apparently everyone knows my financial situation? If I wanted a 180 I would have bought a 180 simples Smile

Is the pinch bolt correct one? Are the threads f****d? Its more than likely the bolts f****d

If the bolt it wrong that's what allows movement which wears the ball joint hole in the hub. New hub and nut and bolt will be required.

omaghman2,
Don't forget to loosen the driveshaft bolt first before you do anything else.

Just get new pinch bolt from peugeot dealer, it only cost you a few £.

Remove the old one and replace it with the new one. It will be best pratice if you replace the pinch bolt as well whenever you replaced a wishbone consider how difficult to change one.

PS: when you slot in the new bolt, make sure the the wishbobe grove is in the right position, when u look through the hole you should able to see a circle,

I think the GTi and 2.0 HDi ones are different to those on the TU engined cars.
