Hello all

I already have an early gti preplex that is my main car. No issues with it. Have bought a V reg gti non-runner, to swap some trim parts, but on picking it up its in fairly good condition. I'd like to see if I can get it running so i can decide whether to restore it instead.

All I've done so far is replaced the battery and tried to connect to the engine ecu. I have a handheld Autel diag kit. I've established connection to the airbag ecu and cleared an old low battery code code (airbag light now off), connected to the abs ecu ok but can't connect to the engine ecu.

I have the check engine light on the dash. Fuel in tank. Fuel pump is silent, doesn't make a noise to prime. Car turns over but no attempt to start.

I'd like to find out why I Can't connect first. Does this sound like an immobiliser issue? Would it prevent comms on these preplex cars?

Cheers, DC
