Well, defo not the injectors. I had an old rail and injectors in the shed....so swapped them with the ones in the car, picked the best looking o rings...and its just the same. So, I await the parts that I have ordered. If nothing changes then I am out of ideas! The coil pack looked a bit brown and discoloured....is that normal?

Just an update. Just swapped the coilpack and changed the O2 sensor...absolutely no change....still a crap idle. Just awaiting the throttle body. If still no change then I will Basil Fawlty it up. Checked all the spark plugs and they are all okay.

Another update! Just got the throttle body in the post and......they sent the wrong part!!! I don't even know what car this fits!!! Mad

I am a bit peed off now and thinking about just running the car till the next MOT and scrap because I can't fix it and the car gods seem to be agaist me! No codes, no warning lights....what the flip? There are loads of 1.4 throttle bodies on ebay but it's really hard to find the ones with the hole in the bottom with the grey sensor in it....I don't even know what this sensor is for....any one know?

If you disconnect the ICV and hold tick-over with the throttle can you get steady rpm or is it still crap and hunting?

If you can get reasonable idle on the throttle that still suggests ICV.

Right, new throttle body and ICV fitted.....and.....not much difference really! It is a bit better but still lumpy on start up. Hhhhmmmm.....now I am out later for a long drive in town and motorways so will see what it is like when really warmed up. I know you all say don't throw money if unsure but I did buy a new aftermarket coilpack and you know what, this has improved general all round driving...much smoother. But this damn idle issue. At least this ICV didn't make the car rev wildly like the last three! It is crunch time for this car though...I got this at 35000 miles, now on 138000 miles. Never over heats...and this is bad and don't tell me off but I have never changed the coolant! It has never let me down. The head oil leak that is common on these and was there when I got it is getting a bit worse. I am looking at a CAT C 206 at the salvage sale that I may go for but sometimes it is better the devil you know. It is MOT'ed till Feb so unsure. Cam belt was changed at 70000 miles so will need doing...plus it is still on the original water pump! What say you....keep or scrap? Keep in mind that the end of last year I had the front shocks changed and in March had a new cat fitted...and the air con is still ice cold! Laughing

STOP PRESS!

My idle problem is fixed!!

I changed the cambelt and aux belt at the weekend and it has been spot on since. The cam belt looked ok but the and belt was in a dreadful state.

Changing the aid belt is well worth a go as it's pretty straight forward and low cost. Cam belt is a MASSIVE pain in the a**e

That is excellent news. Was thinking about a cam/Aux belt change myself but didn't know if it would be wise considering the age of the car. I did ask someone to keep an eye on the salvage sales and there was a 52 plate 206 GLX up for sale....needs a new rear bumper...passage side rear door has a dent but nothing bad, could probably be pulled or pushed out. Well, he won it....£325. It has only 34000 miles on the clock.
