Say a 1.4 glx with digital climate control has a ppt30 (4 bulb) display which is faulty..

Instead of replacing with another ppt30 (which are quite expensive) would it be possible to use a newer ppt40 from a gti car?

I can use the old loom from the gti and splice into the existing glx loom.
The car uses a aftermarket stereo. so the display does not need that functionality.

All we need is a display that tidies the car up as the ppt40 in there is buggered.

Of course we could swap to an uber simple clock, but if we keep some functionality/info from the car that would be great.
