I have a question about installing a new audiosystem in my peugeot 206 1.4
This is what i have:
Speakers: jbl GTO 609c compo set 90rms 3ohm
Amp: Denver cap-4300 1000w 4x90rms 4ohm
Sub: Kenwood ksc w1200t 200rms 4ohm

Quoting the manual:
Speaker requirements
Each channel of your amplifier can easily drive
4Ω speaker loads when used in the stereo
mode. When a channel-pair is bridged, the
recommended minimum load impedance is 3Ω
for subwoofer use, and 4Ω for full range
operation. Although operation with lower
impedances is not likely to cause immediate
damage to the internal circuitry, the unit will
most likely overheat, causing the thermal
protection circuitry to shut down the amplifier.
It doesn't look like the 3 ohm component set is a good match.
If the sub is single voice coil, which it looks like, you can't bridge two channels (effectively giving each channel a 2 ohm load) You could run it off one channel, but that's just 90W...
A dual voice coil 4 ohm sub would be okay - wire the coils in series and to two channels bridged.
Edit: I might have misinterpreted things - looking further in the manual it does look like it will handle down to a 3 Ohm load sub bridged and if the components run on one channel each, 3 ohm should be OK too...
Sorry for the initial haste.
A
