I finally managed to change the resistor pack to the heater blower. Symptom was it would only work on full (No 4 setting). Car is manual air con type with separate resistor pack.
Reading the forum and also watching U-Tube, there was no way that I was going to get my arm up passed the steering column and the thick caged wiring loom and nearly resigned myself to using it as is.
However, after some thought, head scratching and an idea from my wife I decided to give it a go my way. In short I worked remotely from behind the clock bezel (after removing it) and using string and wire.
If anyone wants a step by step method as to how I managed it, just let me know.

onI'm having same issue, looked at this solution but not confident enough to remove trim/ displays. Step by step would be most useful, if still available.

Hi Pepe,
1. Move air intake control to recirculate (slide to the right)
2. Remove plastic surround from clock area (just unclips), then remove clock (two screws) and push to side.
3. Look inside hole to the right and you will see a connector. It has two clips opposite each other. You will need a long screwdriver or rod to unclip this. Before you unclip tie some string to it so it does not disappear. I did the nearest clip first, then pushed the resistor part a small amount sideways to free it (can't remember which way but you can see it easily). You can then get at the opposite clip to get the connecter off using a flat blade screwdriver (not easy but can be done). Before dropping the pack, mark the part facing you with felt tip so the new one goes back in place correctly.
4. Once the resistor pack is free it will fall down through an aperture and land near the clutch pedal area.
5. Now drop some thin string down from where you first saw the resistor pack at the top (with a nut to act as a weight). It will also drop down to the floor left of clutch pedal. Tie the string at the top to the steering wheel.
6. Drill two small holes in the replacement resistor pack so that you can thread the end of the string through but also easily remove it once dragged up to its securing place at the top. Copy the felt tip marking onto the new resistor pack. It will drag up quire easily.
7. Fiddly bit now - e up into the hole, ensure the felt tip marking is facing you as original and twist/push with screwdriver to lock it in place.
8. Again using screwdriver/rod push connector on top.
9. Test.
10. Replace clock and trim cover.
11. Move air vent to "outside air" (slide to the left)
I have tried to send you a PM but unsure it successful.
Good luck
Richard
