I have a 2005 1.4 8v S 206 and every week or so the clutch falls to the floor until I give it a stamp then it comes back up.
I have read this is the Auto adjuster on the clutch, however I took it to a garage and they have said there is no auto adjuster and they recon I need a new clutch.
So I was wondering if this could be the case?
Thanks

Should be an auto adjusting cable for your clutch.
What can happen is the fingers on the pressure plate can fail & this can cause the clutch pedal to fall to the floor.

Thanks for your reply. The garage said they thought something might be getting stuck on the cone (I don't know what this means) and when I give the pedal a stomp its unjamming.
When the pedal goes to the floor I can push it maybe an inch and this varies it from say 60% bitten to 40% bitten (as it would be higher in the travel when its working fine).
Do you think that would sound more like the cable or the clutch?

You could try a replacement clutch cable BUT I would think your gonna end up fitting a new 3 part clutch kit, clutch cable & gearbox input shaft sleeve.

Have had the clutch cable replaced and the grinding feeling of pressing the clutch has gone away, feel as good as when I got it now.
Time will tell if the pedal flops again but I'm feeling positive. The car has only done 35k so would be a bit upset if clutch had gone already.

Its 12 years old.
It could have spent its life in stop / start city traffic.
It could have be driven be someone that likes to sits stationery in traffic with the car in gear with there foot holding the clutch down.

Cable was probably starting to part inside the cover and getting jammed. Wouldn't have been long before a good stamp would have finished it off and you had no clutch ....
