Hello all.
My wife had her camvelt snap on her way home from the school run
We got the camvelt all changed but when the car was brought back to us it still has problems
The only way to keep it going is to keep the revs up and not let it idle
The mechanic said it could be a liner slipped but has failed to let me know what this means so I thought i would ask people in the know
Can anyone shead some light as to what this maybe please
All help greatly appreciated

Did he mention the possibility of bent valves?

Yes he checked the valves and changed them aswell .
If he would of done the whole camvelt and valves surely he would of noticed this and now I'm worried about what this bill will cost as we paid 550 quid for parts and labour. But now this is something we don't know anything about price of the job?

8 or 16 valve version of the 1.4 engine, it could be either.

it can't hurt to try cleaning throttle body, as my 206 some times did not like idling but doing this helped that (but my electrical fault may have caused it)

Or could it be they have timed it incorrectly (cambelt been put on incorrectly!)
I'd take the car back and explain it was fine BEFORE so why doesn't it idle since they repaired it .. and don't take any BS ..

Hello all.
Just wanna say thank you for the replies
I think it maybe a good idea to ask for some of your advice.
The car went in to have the cambelt in mid December.
Came back to us at 10pm on a Friday night after Xmas.
My wife took the car for a run after we paid him for the job as we expected it to be back to fully running order. She took the car for a drive for 30 mins and when upon being home and reversing the car on the drive it just died straight away.
Being it was so late in the night we called him the following not ing and he came over to investigate.
He said at 1st it would be the inlet manifold
So he replaced that with the assistance of a diagnostic system from a rac recovery truck called by my wife as she was livid with the mechanic service.
When he replaced it it still wasn't right then he was telling us it was the injector rail was faulty.
This still wasn't the case at all
Now the date is 18th January 2018
I would be over the moon if we have it back before next Xmas
But my wife has no hope I that at all.
If we can't come to any solution with this problem of the mechanic telling us time and time again its something else.
Is there any advice or action we can take against the mechanic as I'm pretty sure anyone else with out there car for over a month would be totally livid by now.
He's had the money for the job to be done and still the car is not on the road.
Does anyone expect there mechanic to take on a job for example to change the tyres but then not balance them or even madly enough pump them up?

What are the symptoms now all this work has been done?
Have you tried taking it out again?
If so, when the car 'dies' are there any early warning indicators (lights on the dash) or any symptoms that make you think, it is going to die again?

if you charge the battery up will it start?
If it does check the battery voltage with multi meter ( before you start the car) and then start the car and check again, if battery reads same as battery surface charge or less or not going any higher than 14 volts with no electronics of you may need new alternator. I think it may be the alternator as you said she was driving for 30 mins and then when reversing just died (Bare in mind That this is my opinion and may not be whats wrong)
Best of luck
Josh
