Hi all,
Today i noticed my power steering making a noise.
Ive attached a video here
https://youtu.be/UDsqLntdL38
Heres whats happening
Fluid is topped up (ive checked!)
Noise happens with the slightest pressure on the steering in either direction
noise gets slightly louder at full lock (in either direction)
Havent noticed the noise before, but with the hood/bonnet down you probably wouldnt notice it if you werent specifically listening to the engine
206 1.1l petrol 65k
My questions are:
is this noise normal or should P/S pumps be silent when operating?
If its not normal, what could be the problem?

I was told by two "proper" mechanics and various "dads outside the school gates" that SWMBO's noise was the PAS pump. I changed the fluid, then changed the pump. In the end it wasn't the pump but the the AC clutch bearing. Mt thread on that might help you:

I'm sure mine used to be quite nosey, but not to that extent what I recall . You could definitely hear it working with a nematic sound.
