Cheers yeah me too, well when I first found out about them. Getting rarer only ever seen one on the road other than people I know with them
Not worth updating yet, got a loom ready to splice the ITB sensors into. Progress has hit a complete stop though, uni work gets priority once it's out the way around April / May though this will continue much faster

Final stuff coming together ready for re protecting the shell, just waiting for the good weather now.
Got all the stickers off, needs a good clean and polish still.
Got a nice taste of potential wheels, not to keep though...
Stripped more off the car, only stuff left is stuff that is just going to be masked up whilst being painted.
Cleaned up the pugsport a fair bit will try and get more of the scratches out if I can.
Painted up the 266mm calipers.
Plans are to paint the pulleys too (don't laugh) so cut the cambelt cover instead of just leaving it off.
Put the struts together.
Painted loads more things but haven't really got many pictures, all just in black hammerite.
Samco lower radiator hose.
Sparco sprint seats with luke 4 point harnesses.
LED sidelight and rear bumper bulbs.
Kamracing exhaust fixing kit.
Grp N upper gearbox mount.
Synthetic fuel filters, always nice to have a spare.
Carbon rear door cards, fuel tank and rear vent covers. Still waiting on the front door ones.
Now for the rear axle, been a long process. At this point I had gone through one thinking it was good so painted it up. Then I cleaned up the pins:
One was good.
One wasn't.
Bearings had seen better days as well.
So I got another beam with a new recon kit and polybushes. Just hoped the pins were good.
They weren't, but for the price wasn't fussed.
Completely forgot I had another one lying around so had a look too.
Nah...
At this point I was finding out that a decent beam didn't exsist so I bought a refurbed center unit with brand new pins one from IM axles. Top guys! really know their stuff completely recommend them.
Only thing I wanted was the paint to be fresh and last, so I stripped it back to bare metal.
Here's what the trailing arms looked like before cleaning them up.
Got all the old seals and bearings out.
Cleaned up ready for the new bearing kit.
Bearings installed.
And then painted up nicely.
So haven't finished the rear beam yet, but just waiting till the temperature actually gets decent then will paint it up and get it all back together.
Finally other parts masked up ready for spraying.

Yeah tell me about it running out of it though. Looking forward to getting it all back out onto the car to be honest.
Either do it on the cheap and get a unit off another car and just pray it doesn't fail or go the whole way and get new bearings with new pins. Don't bother with replacing bearings on old pins they will fail quickly. Also don't bother trying to find another beam to re con far too many things to go wrong, pins worn, ARB bolts sheered off, ARB plate worn the inside of the trailing arm... list goes on. Much easier to just shell out and get a reconditioned unit and save all of the hassle.

Well there shouldn't be anythingwrong with mine no ssqueaks rattles or wobbles but when I did the tbs the arm came off slightly and I lost some rollers from the bearin. No problems yet but I see some in the future

Problem is that they can seem ok from the outside, even if there are no noticeable symptoms. But when stripped apart it just simply isn't worth refurbishing the parts already on it. Anyone who does axles will tell you the same. Non of mine had play and were generally all good but non of them were worth putting new bearings in.
If you wait till the bearings go and you get play, the pins will pretty much guaranteed to be knackered. Unless I have been extremely unlucky after stripping 5 and finding them all naff I don't hold my hopes too high.
Speaking of which, got the axle refurb finished. Going to assemble it on the car should make it a bit easier.

Literally waiting for a dry, sunny, wind free and warm day to do the painting but I guess I may be waiting a long time. Unfortunate as I can't start to put things back together until it's sorted.

Sorry if stuff overlaps, only wait till stuff is complete until I upload so may be in other pictures before.
Will let the pictures do the talking, just a load of painting really.
Wet sanded

Whole car had a layer of crud underneath it. To clean it up, grind all the rust down, treat it and protect approximately took 8 days but did it over a few weeks.
Rear tow eye painted
Also had a suspension bolt set for a while

Ok so a fair bit of progress has been made
Fuel tank and rear beam on, all nicely greased up.
Started putting things back into the bay.
Got my old VTS engine on the stand to strip and clean up.
Other parts put in including brake and fuel lines, wishbones, front ARB etc.
Checked valve clearance to gauge HG size.
Then it all went together nicely (sort of).
Now at this point I had created my own fuel circuit, but due to no way of measuring the pressure I was reluctant to give it and decent revs especially as I wasn't able to get it up to full temperature just in case. When I get hold of some other parts I will have it fully running.
