Check the main power lead to the starter for a clean tight connection.
Also check earth lead where it bolts to gearbox.
The starter on my 180 sounded lazy and traced it to the power lead.

what a fuss. i was able to get the top 2 bolts loose but the bottom is behind a cable thing and cannot get the t8 in, so i will get a garage to take the pain.

even loosing the bolt i can't see how it would come out top or bottom, there is just no space.

Is it a metal bracket that's in the way? It's just a couple of bolts holding it in place

its not a bracket it was a rubber thing that is attached to the engine i think, goes into the engine. the squares show, the angle looks like you can get a t8 in but you can't because the rubber/plastic thing

That's just the clutch slavery cylinder. 2 torx bolts and move it out of the way. Easy.

You referring to the starter motor wiring?

That's simple too. The negative (earth) is provided by its mounting onto the gearbox. There's a 13mm nut for the +ve and a small maybe 8mm nut for the trigger wire.

finally got the bolts off and in the end removed the coolant pipes going in the top of engine, but still couldn't get the electric wires off or maneuver it around, from the bottom or side, so cannot see it being able to be removed without removing the inlet manifold, so will be sticking it on ebay as not worth it.

thanks for the help anyway.
