This is my project thread for my second car. First part copied off the volvo forum.

This is a 1988 Volvo 360 GLT 2L Manual
At the moment it has about 46K on the clock, few dinks, dints and bits of rust.
Been driven by an elderly lady for the last 16 years and hasn't seen rain, snow or even the night. Just the inside of her garage and the outdoors for half an hour every week.
Just passed MOT, for at least the 2nd year in the row with no advisories, day before yesterday.
Everything works AFAIK bar 1 heated seat.
Anyway, a few pics, all but the first are phone quality and i do apologise.
First one is off the big camera and has been touched up.

First day driving it today and OMG its great! a proper car! Everything just works lol

- Witton Gilbert, went and seen me mate and his mate who has a Volvo like this but rally spec.  might have a set of GLT wheels soon

Mods:
Free is the way
1. Fitted the Volvo Fire extinguisher in an alcove in boot
2. Did some polishing in the engine bay (40% complete)

3. Re-did the paint on the speaker grilles:

4. Re did the paint on the black part of the grilles behind the door
5. Painted the bonnet grille / scuttle in satin black rather than the faded grey it had become.

6. Also gave the wiper motor cover a lick of paint, satin black because thats the only tin I have
I really enjoy driving it. Got used to the brakes and clutch and prefer them to my Peugeot now.

Nothing done today, put another 70 miles on the clock
Did find an old (80s? earlier) 'Astrali' Steering wheel that looks like it will fit straight on. looks just like this but with a black plastic centre cap:

Update for today:
1. MP3 Stereo.
I got this for the bargain price of a fiver of a friend who wrote off her toyota yaris a couple of weeks ago. Looks pretty terrible:
So decided I'd get the satin black spray out and 'fix' it
Much better I know it's not neat but will probably be getting something different on thursday. Final plan is to mount it in the glovebox and put the standard one back in the centre console.
My wicked removal keys  :

And my wiring:
Wrapped the volvo plug up in insulation to stop any of my plugs coming out. If it had been a rotten car that wasn't so mint I'd have cut the wires but I'm not cutting/breaking/damaging any original bits
Fitted :
Came with my mates CD still in 
Only problem is it sits out by an inch or two, think its all the wiring, I'll sort it tomorrow. Connected the amp remote wire to the 'power aerial' wire, hope its 12v constant. And the RCAs, just got to run each down seperate sides of the car. Any tips to hide the wires? I took the plates from besides the door frame out (ones that hold the carpet down) and tried fitting it under but no luck. Maybe run it along the floor under the carpet, bigger job though.
Also got to get a big piece of MDF for the bot floor as the carpet stuff is sagging in the middle where the wheel well is. Then I can bolt the sub to the false floor to stop it moving about. Fits lovely in the Passenger side alcove though. I have a 12v Socket in the boot pillar, just below where the parcel shelf is. Previous owner put it there to charge the battery easier. Think I'll be wiring the sub power cables into that, so i don't disturb orig. wiring
2. Pirelli sticker  I know its a tad chavvy but its hardlys visible and semi covers the mank off the exhaust.
Wanted to finish polishing the Volvo on the engine cover but the rain put me off. Also found my boot lifters are knackered 
Ah well, another update tomorrow...

Daily update
Today I plumbed in the Amp remote wire and RCA plugs. Ran them either side of the car. Took the Panels off beneath the glovebox and ran the RCAs behind the carpet, side trim and under the sill guard things?

Did the same with the remote wire on the driver's side. Also Earthed the amp onto the earthing point for rear passenger side lights.
Now I just need to find where to connect to 12v power. Think it will have to be the battery as there don't seem to be any hefty cables inside. Looks like it will mean drilling a hole in the bulkhead though :/
Also started on a bit more engine cleaning:

This was so gunked up I didn't know it said volvo on it lol

No change on the sub wiring, stereo is in and working blasting my tunes all day
My mate gave me a couple of old smith's guages - battery and fuel. Battery will be useful but might use the fuel one for coolant or washer fluid, depends how hard it would be to sense.
Will give them a clean and refurb the paint on the bezels.
And after cleaning the engine with copious amounts of WD40 and some 80's degreaser which contained who knows what, I was driving around with smoke bellowing out off all the oil burning off

Best to use GT85 mate, so much better then WD40, and i was a WD40 fan...
But the car looks great... how about a respray???
Any other mods or anything like that??

Wan't to keep it more or less standard as its such a great example.
Was going to do a satin black drift machine with Dayglow orange wheels but I'm keeping it standard now so I'll just keep the colour. Paints in excellent nick too - better than the pugs!
Will get some GT85, I was just using what I had last night - current project expenditure is at £5 for a tin of satin black paint

Please don't add any gauges, thats a cracking car and you're doing great with it. It'll look the dogs when you get it back to pristine (standard). Always been a great fan of Swedish cars.

Thanks for all the comments, even the slightly confused ones as to why I changed from a nice newish 206 to an old banger, old mans Volvo.
Not particularly collectible, or rare, might be worth a bit more in a few years who knows. But thats not why I bought it. I actually like the look of it, its fun to drive, RWD for a bit of 'off the road' fun and easy to work on. Was origionally going to go all tramp drift, satin black paint, Bright orange steelies etc. but as its such a good example of these cars, I'm going for the 'fresh out the showroom' look
I think those Smith's one will look canny, OEM Volvo mount and that.
Exterior will probably be done by my mate who's a Valeter, all AutoGlym qualified etc.
