Basicly my cat has been bodged on with been cans and cable ties etc (i didnt do this) and i really dont want to have to spend hundreds on a new cat, so i went to mr tyre and asked about de-cat pipes and if they were ok for an mot on some diesel engines, and they weren't too sure.
My car is an x reg 2.0hdi, does anyone know if it will be okay for an mot.

diesel do not need cats for mot as they dont test CO2 they do a smoke test

diesels dont get tested on emmisions they get tested on smoke density so as long as its not smoking its tits off then should be fine

I didn't think diesels had Cats, just a particle filter? That's what my 306 used to have before I put a straight through pipe on.

Earlier oil burners have CAT's, which just gathers the soot, the later diesels like the DV6 have particle filters burn the soot off once it's reached a certain level.
