Yeah, he wanted it picked-up by the RAC recovery because he wouldn't get insured on it for a month or two from memory

People must be really unlucky, I've thankfully managed 4 years without even a scratch as of yet.

I only had the auto hazards come on when I was on track, but they'd turn off once I started accelerating. I never had to press the hazard button to turn them off.

I don't have this function.. But i have ESP
I'm surprised by the difference between ESP on and off, when on track.

ESP is good for normal road use.
On track, the first 3-4 times i used ESP to get to some experience, and start learning where my driving-skills stop.
When i de-activated it for the first time on track, i felt a much more agressive turn-in, and it sort of wants power earlier.
(ESP cuts power if it feels the car is going too close to the limit, and helps prevent wheelspin.. atleast that's what i think?)
Always remember though, know your personal limitations!!
Seen a few cars spin out, and worst case was a Porsche Boxster that got totalled - never got to chat with the owner, but it looked like the rear started stepping out, and before he could correct it, one of the wheels got on the grass and from there on, you're basically reduced to being a passenger..
