Hey everyone Very Happy

Apart from a brief introduction I haven’t really said anything about myself or my car and just lurked around a bit. My car’s not really special and just follows straight forward style modding so don’t expect too much. Anyway...

I’m Harry, from Stafford and in February this year I sold my DT 125 R to buy a 206 which I have wanted to as my first car for years. I bought it before I passed my test, failed a couple of times and then was finally on the road. I am a student so typically don’t have a lot of money but I love to learn and spend time on it doing DIY things.

Everything I’ve bought has mostly been off people from info and I can say I’ve only had good transactions so thanks for everyone that has sold me something.

It’s a 2000 reg glx in eyc silver. It wasn’t great and sadly had a lot of dints and scratches in but it was mine so I liked it Smile . Sorry about dodgey number plate blank outs. I’ve also tried to collect the images as I went but have taken a few of them later on so some mods may be viewable but I’ve done my best. Most pictures are from the back as it's how I park on my drive but I'll try and even it out in the future.

It wasn’t long before I started modding and bought some rear smoked lights and a 4” peco backbox.

Fitting them:

Loving my music I couldn’t stand the standard setup so I bought myself a new sub, amp and headunit. (Ignore the dice Wink ).

Then sadly I had a little reversing accident Sad .

The tow bar crushed the boot panel in and creased the rear quarter panel in. I cut the tow bar off and got the quarter panel repaired by a body shop.

While it was in for repair (a week or so) I stripped it out and took loads of exterior and interior parts to cc. I also bought a tailgate with a phase 2 boot strip and a spoiler in china blue for £40 so I took them off for the re spray.

Due to the tow bar being cut off I filled in the bumper tow hole and smoothed it off. I think I did an alright job of it as you can’t tell unless you go pretty close and it was my first time.

All the parts finished:

Then I got the car back all nice and shiny.

Some pictures of what it looked like with all the parts on and one with my mates corsa. I also smoked the third brake light, rear fog and side repeaters.

At this point I decided the interior needed some extra lighting so I bought footwell neons for the front and some LED's for the rear seats. I also took the ash tray out and covered it in a translucent plastic. It’s not that great but I can put phone, wallet in etc. I’ll get round to doing it properly soon.

The rear wiper was annoying me so I totally removed the wiper and motor.

All was well and a few months passed. Then sadly again some pillock managed to pull out in front and I was involved in a 5 car pile up in the pouring rain. But being at the back it was my fault for being too close.. (but in this circumstance was impossible to avoid). The man in front didn’t mind the scratches and told me not to worry about it so I was very lucky with that.

However the 206 got slightly mashed. When I got home I fixed it up a bit which included taking the bonnet off and smashing it out a bit making it look like this.

All the headlight mounts were broke, bonnet was ruined, grill had snapped and parts of the engine bay had been bent out of place.

But.. not to worry I soon got on with fixing it and at the same time decided to work on the front which included smoked angel eyes, new honeycomb grill. new bonnet and smoking the fog lights.

While I was picking up the bonnet I managed to come away with a sports rear bumper and an sp gear knob. I got the bumper mould cc’d on the same day and fitted them both. I still have to fill the tow bar hole in on it but should get it done soon.

I got given an old splitter which not being great was far better than the standard one so I took the front bumper off and got it on.

Being too poor to afford new alloys I decided to pimp out the steelies a bit with some leftover paint.

So this is how the car stands right now. Next on my list is lowering which I think really needs to be done and then alloys, possibly nimrods in black but definitely in that order.

UPDATE 14/09/2010

Done a few minor things since. A few weeks ago I relocated the amp to the back of the rear seats. Was planning on making a boot build but never really got round to it and this does the job for now.

I then got round to smoothing off the tow bar gap on the rear bumper. Took most of the day and was more difficult than the non sports bumper. Here are some pictures of the work.

Front:

Rear:

Fibre Glassed:

Filled in ready to be painted:

Finished and fitted:

Not really that pleased with it, it’s still pretty obvious but it’s nice to not have a massive gap with no tow bar so it’s all good.

I’ve also now gathered all my suspension parts. It should lower it by 60mm and will be getting done asap. I tried doing the torsion bar for so long (literally was working outside for 20+ hours over a few days) but couldn't get the lower bar out. So now it's time to let a professional do it.

UPDATE 19/09/2010

Completely robbed off dan_pug206sport ( Laughing ) I removed the sticker off the doors between the front and rear windows. Think it looks a lot better but does admitedly break up both the windows into two more obviously so could understand if it wasn't to everyone's taste.

Before:

After:

Got the suspension fitted by kyle. Can honestly say he did a great job and am really pleased with it. May tinker with it slightly in the future after driving on it for a while.

UPDATE 18/10/2010

Most of the tatty plastic stuff that comes with the lower models like bumpsrips, bumper moulds etc had gone but there were still a few left. I decided to spray the mirrors, bonnet grill and rear window caps gloss black. Don't have any pictures of the vent and caps though.

Some of you may have seen my breaking thread, but if not I managed to buy this gti.

The choice was either to fix it up and sell or break it, decided it would be more fun breaking and I could take things off it for myself.

So I took the half leather interior, nimrods and mats out and put them all on my car. Really wanted some gloss black / gunmetal grey nimrods so going to refurb these soon.

Eventually got round to getting an info sticker and while I was at it got some others off ebay.

Next on the list is to get the nimrods refurbed, door handles cc'd and sp arches.

UPDATE 20/10/2010

Small update. Was seeing if I could get the climate control unit to fit but ended up installing the glove box light while I was there. Makes you realise how bad it is at night without it.

UPDATE 27/11/2010

Got this done a couple of weeks ago but only just got round to uploading the pictures. Instead of refurbing the nimrods I saw gavstar's dished alloys up for sale so I grabbed them as well as his sp arches. Bought some rattle can and got them sprayed up straight away.

And with them all fitted after today's snowy drive.

UPDATE 17/02/2011

Been a few months without an update but now the crap weather is starting to shift so work has started again.

Firstly, I got the tools out one early saturday and re did the torsion bar. It sits 4.2mm lower at the rear now making the sills flush to the floor. I know most people dislike this as the arches look odd but I prefer it so much more this way and am satisfied with the outcome.

I also angle grinded the arches out as the tyres rubbed slightly when turning and now it sits lower with no problems.

Then as the last gti went, I got myself another one Very Happy

Although the last one had a lot of parts I could have taken and decided to sell but this time I wanted a few things off it.

The things I managed to gather are here

There's the SP petrol cap as well but it's extremely worn so I'm planning some sort of restoration on it. Maybe a different colour not sure yet.

Fitted them all:

The strut brace is also going to be re painted in either red or orange. May get it powdercoated as well. I fitted the SP pedals but they are admittedly a bit of a bodge job, will take pictures when I sort them out properly.

My peco backbox also decided to give up on life so after having the standard backbox on for a month Wall Bang I got another peco at a bargain price of ebay.

It's also decatted now as the cat was destroyed. It's now loud, too loud for my liking so am still after a less bake bean tin type backbox.

Want to get the car looking good for the season, if I come across an eyc sports front bumper I will get it just really don't want to have to respray for well over twice what the bumper is worth. Also going to clean it up more, paint the petrol cap and strut brace and paint other things in the engine bay. Still chilly hopefully will warm up soon Smile

Some final pictures

UPDATE 24/02/2011

Nothing big, I eventually got round to filling in the ash tray gap. Had a bit of plastic before and looked bad. Originally wanted some coloured perspex cut out so the ash tray light would shine through but just decided that it would be easier to make it a fake leather effect which turned out looking less tacky.

Actually cut out the template over a month ago but I had no fabric to go over it. Went down to hobbycraft and got some wadding and fake leather for hardly anything and finished it off.

UPDATE 12/03/2011

Gone and spent a fair bit on lighting (interior and exterior).

Firstly my passenger side neon kept falling off and eventually cracked. Having gone off neons but still really liking the footwell lighting I bought two blue LED strips (the same as the white ones under the rear seats).

I wired them up to a constant feed and fitted a switch to the pannel above the fuse box which is a lot better than when they were wired to the ash tray light before. The output is more purple than the last ones and a lot brighter, especially in daylight they are still completely visble. I think they are far better than neons, brighter and a lot more durable.

Also took pictures of the rears now that I have a better camera.

I wanted to improve the brightness of other interior lights so bought some SMD pannels off ebay. The idea was one for the interior light, glovebox and boot but then decided to take the map reader light from the GTI and modify it.

Before:

I was hoping that the plug from the loom was already installed but I couldn't find it. Although I found another plug that had an ignition feed so I cut that and fitted the map reader light into it.

After:

The light output is very high it brights up the whole car. Was thinking about putting two pannels into the interior light but glad I didn't now as it would be a bit of an overkill. Sadly I managed to damage one whilst trying to fit it into the glovebox light. Just going to buy single bulbs for the rest now.

The positioning and brightness also makes it shine through the gaps on the map ready as well but it's not too bad.

Someone was after smoked rear lexus lights so I sold mine and had phase ones on for a week while I sourced some LED rears. Got these ones and am very happy. They also have LED indicators which looks pretty nice.

I got bored of angel eyes as well, although I still think they look a lot better than crystals. I got some morettes in gloss black and I am really happy with them it makes the front look a lot meaner.

And a couple of picture of how it looks now.

Nothing major is going to happen until after the fast show when I have a redesign of the colour scheme. It's going to be different Very Happy

Final Update - The car is now back to standard and being sold Sad but a new 206 is bought and going to be much better thanks for all the feedback.

Haha cheers Laughing they were just a joke as I was bored with either crappy hub caps or rusting steel so decided to brighten them up a bit. Thought they would probably turn out a bit of a joke.

Nice work! You fixed the bonnet yourself? If so, very impressed!

Don't suppose you still have the old rear bumper do you? Razz

Yeah I do, you interested? It's not done to a professional quality but I think it's ok. Not too hard to do yourself tbh.

If the old bumper is in pretty good nick, I could well be yes.
I'm not in a hurry to buy, so if you're not in a hurry to sell and the price is right - then I could well be Very Happy

It's a 4" peco although it goes to around "2 shortly after so it's not 4" all the way through. Got it second hand so unsure of any other details.
