 had a bump in then gravle car park today at work hit the back of a car with my front left side, mine has bad scrapes and dinted a bit but sorta fixed now
his car (hyundai coupe) i didnt have a close look but probs very badly scraped and lots of my paint on his car
how much could painting the back bumper cost?
should i own up?
can he claim if it was in a private gravel car park with no cctv ?

Depends how big it is and how expensive the bodyshop he goes to is. Could be anywhere from £150 - £300.
No one is here is going to tell you to not own up to it put it that way. You should obviously I'd be very pi**ed off if I was him.

own up its the right thing to do.
depends how bad bumper is as to cost to repair. anywhere from £150 upwards really for a full bumper, any damage to rear quarters aswell will add cost. is the bumper intact or does it need replacing? what damage is behind the bumper?
not trying to put you off doing the right thing, just trying to make you aware of what it could entail.

thanks, erm well think its just a bad scrape, dont think there's cracks and dont think any need for filler, just paint, didnt see it that much but posibly, 16'' x 6'' area maybe smaller or bigger. its a red plastic bumper

i'd say if no filler needed cost around £200. full bumper would need doing, depending on how close to rear quarter it goes might need blending into there aswell.

Hope you took some photos of his car, I did that and didn't bother taking pictures and got royally screwed for damages!

i had somebody hit mine and own up and was extremely grateful......just think how happy you would be if somebody hit yours and left it.

Someone reversed into one of my cars in a private carpark and drove off. I ended up with a damaged front bumper, two knackered bumper mounts, damage to the front valance and hidden damage to the badge panel.
A witness passed on the car details to me which I used to make a claim and inform the police as it is classed as leaving the scene of an accident. If they'd have owned up I'd have probably left it as I did the majority of repairs myself.
