i think it's very appropriate to delve into the history of this car. So i had a look to see what Tony (previous owner) had all done to it in more detail.
It's about time a proper thread was started for this car!
I can't remember when Tony bought the car...
In March 2008 someone ****ted the driver's door with a trampoline leg, this was soon fixed
In June 2008 the Janspeed was fitted and the car had a good clean:
A fuzzy but memorable picture of the car for me This is a before picture, the after's aren't clear enough so you can't really see it being any cleaner than it is here
Coilovers were fitted in June 2008 and it almost makes me want to go down the coilover route again, it looks great!

Some tool called Tony found the chav within and fitted these bad boys
This is an idea which i have tinkered with as well, but i might give it a miss even though i have an ecosse badgeless grille in my lock-up!
It was then decided that the 180 alloys were missed and the car benifitted from a full detail back in August 2008.
I adore the above pictures - the car looks great and reminds me that i need to buy poorboys black hole glaze...
I dont even remember these wheels. What the F... they are pants I'm glad they were changed before my ownership that's for sure!
Between times (cant be bothered seeing when just because of the contraversy of the threads) it had a GSR induction kit and has has a red dot remap.
No idea when the rear parking sensors were fitted, but! I like!
I presume the eibach pro kit dampers and sportline springs were fitted in late 2008 too?
To what we all know and i fell in love with.
So! I bought the car in March 2009 after deciding that it was a great idea to travel from Fife to Kent to get the car at an unbeatable price with a caring owner and 14,800 on the clock. jawesome.
So Bonson. Graham and myself set off at ridiculous AM:
Stopped off around Manchester to meet SAB206 and bullseyeant. So we took a few pics of Bonson and Graham's cars.
Stopped off at the birmingham meeting that day on the way back up
Woke up the next morning at my dad's house and got picture happy!
Unfortunately the car was only driven now and then by my dad to keep it ticking over until i could afford the insurance on the 180 and until i sold the 1.1
I then debadged the boot lid And the rear lights were sold to ajsuk as i had already bought a nice new set of lights for the 1.1 less than a week to thinking about buying a new car
Gave the rest of the car a good polish at the same time, results of debadging can be seen below.
My dad then drove the car to the scottish modified car show for me, so i had 2 cars there Prior to this event, i polished the manifold up.
I then sold Gabby in late July and swapped all the lights and audio over.

...I like Alpine just a wee bit...
Then in August I was finally taxed and insured. So i went and took some pictures with an awful camera just as it was getting dark. Between times some psooc stickers were put on the rear side windows and on the rear screen too.
In September i took the car to ecosse's RR's after the contraversies of all the red dot/ rs tuning hoo haa arguments over on 206info. So that's it been on 3 different RR's with 3 or 4 different results.

That's 183bhp and 151 lb/ft of torque. I've not really got much else to say other than i was chuffed that it was over 180bhp and the graph appears to be very smooth!
You can make up your own minds about which graphs/results you trust without argumentation please!
Since then i've just been enjoying driving it and i've only had to replace the battery in my time of ownership amongst a few electrical faults (perhaps due to the crap battery??) which sorted themselves out.
Plans? None yet really. Just to keep it clean and i might invest in coilovers when i'm bored one day, perhaps a change of wheels and i really want to paint the underside of the boot and clean the rear axle up. I also fancy painting the calipers up again with the black/silver theme. It looked pretty good but isn't looking as good as it used to.
I will be removing the chrome inserts of the fogs by sanding the chrome away to reveal the black plastic underneath to match the headlights. I also started painting a set of interior bits gloss black but i'm not really fancying them any more...
I don't know what else to do with it...hence I bought the 309 to play with...
I think i've been in denial that I didn't think I wanted vortex's done in black-chrome. So i came to my senses and did a photoshop whilst supposed to be doing uni work...

The photoshopped wheels are a bit dark. A bit lighter than that would be spot on, a bit like the OZ's on there now i suppose.
This idea was spurred on by a very well priced set of vortex's which were only up the road from my house! So being a wheel hoarder...i was havin them.
Unfortunately they're nankang tyres on them but i just grinded the price down a little I need to get bolts and lockers but they wont be getting fitted or anything for a fair few months.
For now the OZ's are staying and will be back on in the summer time. I've also since decided that i quite like the wheels as they are in silver!
Finally got round to fitting my 180 wheels after getting a hold of bolts and bolt caps for £17 delivered! I also bought a set of mcgard lockers to suit as well
Run into some trouble with the spacers - i didn't realise it was a hex ended bolt that was on them so i had to go and buy one then it got dark n cold and i couldn't be bothered so here's how i arrived to the car this morning. Filthy and with 2 different sets of wheels on
Fitted the wheels, gave the car a quick wash (no wax as you can see! ) and took her for a spin. The tyres aren't quite as bad as i thought. Probably slightly better in the wet than paradas...surprising to me as they're...NANKANGS!! My plan is to wear them down to a near illegal depth before changing them :))
I was gonna sell the OZ's too kinda glad i didn't though, i really do quite like both!

Surely those Parada's can't be that great if you think the Nankang's are better, not that I've ever had Nankang's (but I've never heard a good word said about them really).
The Lupo wears Yokohama S-Drives, got no complaints about them, hard to unstick them in the dry and decent in the wet too unless driving like a tit, in which case they seem nice and progressive on the limit, not had any hairy moments.

Nah, that was my first impression of them, but i really don't trust the nankangs now after having more experience with them. Lets be fair here though, neither of the tyres are particularly brilliant at this time of year. They suffice for driving about normally though and they will do for now

That's a lot of history B. I think you're right with the date's 2008 ish for most of the bits Tony did
The Dotz alloys weren't that bad in the flesh and where only on it a matter of weeks !
I just like the way you took a great car and with subtle touches have made it your own !! Kiki is a very beautiful example

Aye she has had a lot of plestering done over the past few years! I think the dotz alloys would look nice in motion actually.
Acht it wasn't hard to add my touches really, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it at the time and get the various lights on it! I probably couldn't survive without decent audio these days either!
It's all been good fun. She's now covered a massive 18,450 miles now by the by....

have i said that above? lol. I probably won't get them to be honest. I like the ride quality of the eibach set-up at the moment and i like the subtleness of the ride height too. Plus to get that good ride quality back with coilovers i'm looking at £650-800 for a nice set of coilovers and i dont think it's worth it for me really! It's a fairly practical hot hatch as it is but the suspension on it is more than track-capable too which is nice.

I loved those Dotz alloys back when Tony had them fitted up, I couldn't stop looking at the pics he put up! I have since widened my horizons to the likes of proper split rims etc though (bit of a wheel snob these days if there is such a thing ), and although I still quite like the design they just look a little weak on it, whereas the Vortex's look chunky and make it look more beefy!

The cars looking great! How you finding the suspension setup? I was looking at getting just the springs, but wondering if the dampers would make a good bit of difference. I've got a bit of cash to spend on a few upgrades the now, trying to decide what to get is a nightmare. The alloys will get done anyway, but just down to either the dampers and springs or a new exhaust.

Loving the suspension set up. Since you're close by, i could let you ride shotgun so you can feel what it's like for bumps etc if you like? £400+ is a lot to spend on a suspension that you don't really know what it will be like! For such a car as a 180 you should replace shocks AND springs. A spax set-up will be less expensive but the ride quality is pretty hard. That's why some people will pay those extra few pennies for eibach, bilstein etc.

Sounds good to me mate. Would be nice to see how another 180 runs, I've got a few niggles with mine. Hopefully some of them will go on Tuesday, belts and water pump are getting changed.

A nice shiny new belt and tensioner will help things anyway I can see if i can help you diagnose any other wee problems! I am quite free most of this week during the day...between jobs is crap
