To be honest I wouldn't reccomend getting a GTi, the fuel economy compared to the 1.1 206 is atrocious.
Plus a 206 GTi isn't all that quick & I had A LOT go wrong with mine.
I strongly advise you to get a turbo diesel
Lower insurance (My vRS is a group 9, GTi is 14) & lower running costs.

True. It felt fast at first.
At the old 1.1 206 struggling to do 70 with 3 people in the car.

Got mine when i was 26, insurance was £550.
I agree with CD-vRS though, ive had a lot of problems with mine and a GTi 138 isnt that fast imo aswell, that said if your upgrading from a 1.1 you will notice a difference obviously. Had a Clio 172 Cup before, that was the business....i crashed that though unfortunately :-(.

Was thinking about a diesel. A 207 hdi, or a vw mk4 golf TDI

vw mk4's are very heavy cars for what they are. we got a mk4 golf GTI the 2.0 version. to say the least its s**t. not enough power for the hype of having GTI imo.
