I had a 1.1 206 at 18, insurance was £1200
Then I got a GTi (138) at 19 & the insurance was £1200 TPFT |
What was the upgrade like
As ive got a 1.1 also. Im 18 19 in Nov but only been driving 3 months |
To be honest I wouldn't reccomend getting a GTi, the fuel economy compared to the 1.1 206 is atrocious.
Plus a 206 GTi isn't all that quick & I had A LOT go wrong with mine.
I strongly advise you to get a turbo diesel
Lower insurance (My vRS is a group 9, GTi is 14) & lower running costs. |
Was thinking about a diesel. A 207 hdi, or a vw mk4 golf TDI |
Never been a fan of the shape but they're supposed to be good cars.
The build quality will be a lot better than a 206 but the price will be more.

just a tip but pointless going fully comp as they deem your insurance invalid if you have a crash and it shows you're way over 1k miles/year. They're a business after all and if they can find a way to not pay then they wont, same with declaring mods here.

How will they know?
Say your mileage is 60,000 just tell them that its 80,000
Also you do have point of going for TPFT which is what i will be going for when I renew my insurance.
As a "young" driver, I have a compulsory excess of £450 and then my voluntary excess is £750 when I make a claim.
