plenty of de-icer and windscreen washer

make sure the engine coolant has anti-freezer, not just plain water

always got thick jackets in the boot

get AA/ RAC membership

and practise how to slide correctly when snowing~!

engine braking incase of snow....and i know people were joking above when they said about handbraking etc but i found an empty car park and put my old car into slides to learn to correct....but im not condoning that...if you do it you need LOADS of space and someone to fix your car if you get it wrong lol

Just take it easy and give yourself extra time to get wherever you need to go.

Last winter (it was mental if everyone can remember) I had a survival pack in the boot, which included: water, bit of food/chocolate, picnic rug thing (for warmth, not to sit down and munch, spare clothes... Oh and a spade.

You will slide at some point if it snows. Find an empty carpark/random bit of land, and practice your car control on snow. Not strictly legal I'm sure, but it really does help.

Winter tyres make a MASSIVE difference. If you can afford it, get a set. I won't be, and I imagine most people won't be, but they do make a huge difference if you're a bit worried.

Easy on the throttle as well, so many people get stuck by just spinning their wheels and going nowhere.
