Morning all,

Right really need some help...

I used to own a 206 hdi.. then the clutch went so I swapped it for a astra mk4..

Now I want to get a 206 GTi but Im not if I want slightly senible and get a GTi or go all out and get a 180...

Insurance is only £100 difference...

Whats the MPG like on a 180??

and are they much quicker??

Any help thank you

Lewis.

Lewis, there are quite a few threads already about the difference between 138's and 180's.
And what they are like to run & own. Wink

My vote goes to a 180.
Get a 138 & after a few months you'll be wishing that you got a 180.

Did you not read that topic then...

The 180 is a far better car.... You can do alot more with it and by the time you got the 138 to the same standard a 180 is you may as well brought 2 180...

You can do less with the 180 in terms of modifying it.
You wouldn't just tune a 138 to 180 spec though, you'd go further.

In short if you want to keep standard then buy a 180, if you want to modify then buy the 138.

had a gti got a gt, driven a few 180s the 180 wins hands down in handling, it has more poke and the interior is so much nicer, if your not like me and with insurance being a issue there is no reason to get a normal gti,

ed makes a good point tho 138 is more tunable, but 180s are very cheap now, if you can afford it go for a 180, there not much faster if thats all your after but like i said inside is alot better, mpg is noticeably worse ive heard not owned one so couldnt judge that aspect from experience
