Thread title isn't exactly true.
It starts, when it feels like it, It wouldn't start Saturday morning, so I jumped it from my mums car, and let it run for about an hour, took it for a ride etc. and It's been working fine, it started the morning, but I drove to my mums, stayed for a few hours, and now it wont start.
it had a new battery last wednesday too because I was told it was the most likely cause, but alas, it's not.
Any ideas, more than likely it's the alternator right? I can't get him to the garage til Monday.
Cheers.

most likely wrong there pal as your battery is charging but the batterys not holding it.
you say you've had a new battery put on so the only thinkg i can think of is you've got a short dragging the power out your battery.. unless you've got a duff battery by accident? :L

Before I changed the battery, when I turned the key I was just getting a rapid clicking noise.
After I changed the battery I get..well it sounds like it's trying to start, dash lights half arsedly light up, every time I try it it gets shorter and shorter.
Saturday morning it was so dead the central locking wouldn't even work...or the hazzard lights.
It's a 1999 2.0D HDI GLX

You haven't got anything draining the battery have you, that isn't turning off? for example a amp
Heres a rough guide for battery voltages
12.7v . . . . . . . . . . 100%
12.5v . . . . . . . . . . 75%
12.25v . . . . . . . . . . 50%
12.06v . . . . . . . . . . 25%
under 12v . . . . . . . . . . 0%
It should be around 14-14.5 with the engine running
Also make sure all connection are sure like earths and wires coming from the alternator to the battery

Cheers guys,
I have disconnected my amp/sub, and I haven't been setting my alarm at night.
I'll have her checked out, I know 'a guy'
I'm going to jump him again tonight, and hope it lasts a few days (which it has been) I'm sure it won't do any harm would it.
