Well, as mentioned in my "Introduce Yourself" thread. My poor Roland unfortunately failed its MOT recently, the quote to put all 14 issues right was around £1000, the mechanic was going to email me a proper quote, but never got round to it.
It is my intention to sort the majority of the issues out myself. This is a good excuse to uprate the things that need replacing, and that's what I plan to do. So, without further ado, here's the list:
001 Nearside Front position lamp(s) not working
002 Offside Headlamp aim too high
003 Nearside Headlamp aim too low
004 Brake pedal spongy
005 Nearside front brake hose excessively deteriorated
006 Offside front brake hose excessively deteriorated
007 Nearside rear braking sstem leaking
008 Nearside front shock absorber has a serious fluid leak
009 Offside front shock absorber has a serious fluid leak
010 Nearside front anti-roll bar linkage has excessive play in a pin/bush
011 Brake load sensing valve linkage seized
012 (both front to rear) Brake pipe excessively corroded
013 Nearside rear brake recording little or no effort
014 Parking brake efficiency below requirements
Well, I've changed the light bulb... so one down whoopee.
I don't intend on taking the car on track days, or smashing it excessively, but I do want it to look pretty good, and when I replace the bits, i want them to last, so, with that in mind, I need to get moving on a shopping list, also I need to work out a logical order for doing the work. I'd like braided hoses all round, and do plan on dropping the car after replacing the shocks. Thoughts all?

Sounds like you need near enough a new braking system 
Didn't you look at the brakes when you bought it?
Most of them are self-explanatory tbh.
The headlight aim, just get the mot garage to set it you up, slip them a few quid for some beers.

We've had the car for 5 years, every time the car passed its MOT with no issues, and at every service any issues found by the garage were fixed, but the missus (whom the car belonged to) never complained of any issues, so until now i was blissfully unaware. I suppose I can't complain, 5 years of problem free motoring is pretty good! But it's time for me to give the car some love, and get these niggles sorted.

The hoses and brake lines could be done yourself I'd imagine and should, I'd expect, sort out most of the above braking issues. The load sensing valve probably needs WD40 to loosen it off and the handbrake cables will need adjusting to bring the parking brake efficiency up to the required level. Bushes in the front ARB could be a pain, might be best getting the garage to replace them!
You could replace the shocks too if you've got a Haynes manual, the right tools and a bit of confidence.

I think the brakes will be my initial priority. So, I'll be under the car sorting the load sensing valve tomorrow (if it isn't too cold n wet) I'll have a look at the rear shoes while I'm there.

I know what you're saying mate, but it isn't really the performance aspect I'm after, it's the longevity... the way I see it, if I get hoses with a lifetime warranty, chances are I'll never have to change them again. What do you think?
