Whats ASR??

And is that a price for the GTi mac?? and using Jenvey??

ASR is the anti-skid function
ESP is electronic stability programme function (which also activates the hazard lights automatically)

ASR isnt Anti Skid. Actual in your country ASR is named TC i think. Anti Spin Recovery or Anti Slip/Spin Regulator. When a wheel lose grip ASR little close throttle and retard ignition to cut engine power. And if didnt help they brake front wheels.

Thats why ASR cant work with mechanical throttle. Because first level of spin recovery is close throttle. Is it clear ?

ASR is the anti-skid function according to Peugeot UK. I took it from their press release (30 pages long).

"The Anti-skid function [ASR] which optimises traction by analysing wheel spin and makes the necessary correction by reducing engine torque and (or) braking the wheel that is spinning"

EDIT: in the 2003 GTI 180 product guide, under 'glossary of terms', ASR = Anti Skid or Slip Regulation [traction control]

So to sumarise -
The 180 is well cheap & is far far superior to the 138 in every way, especially the Argean blue ones. Their owners are loads more intelligent, handsome, debonair, & better in bed aswell. yes, yes, yes ... Twisted Evil

Oh this is still going.
Kinda forget where I was? I said something about comparing the two cars on a like for like basis and then someone drew a big frog in their post. Brilliant.

What I was getting at is comparing the two on a like for like basis. If anything this is a lot fairer for the 180 owners as a later model 180 cannot be compared price-wise to an X reg gti. You don't have to have a cry about it!

Anyway, I was saying something along the lines of:

Cost of an 02 gti - around £1800?
Cost of and 53 180 - around £3000?

You have to factor in milage on a like for like which is again what I was getting at when I said age but I think those figures look about right and personally I would WANT to pay more for a 180 to get a mint one and I'm pretty sure you can snap up an older 138 for around the 1400 mark. This broadens the gap of extra cash having to be spent on a 180.
The price difference would pay for a years insurance, road tax and a couple months of fuel for me choosing the 138 over the '80.
Or a holiday.
Or a shedload of gin.

Also, don't claim to be intelligent and then get your car colour wrong.

So why not buy a 03 180 for around £2000? Mine would go for about that & it's mint with FFSH & 26k. Or would you not want it as you'd 'WANT to pay more'.

lofty mate your arguing with a child, he thinks the 180 is far superior, which is bollox, its nicer to sit in and handles better, a far superior car would be something like a skyline or a m3 not another 206 with all the same reliability issues, build quality, the 180 is the same car with a few mods, its not a superior car its just better, fact is a 2k 180 is great value with those miles but most gti 180s with that will be 3k at least and your forgetting the cost of insurance, why argue when people are weighing up everything not just "its faster", you even have 180 owners such as kyle saying its better but not by much, and i like the part of 180 owners are more intelligent.... some might be but your from essex mate enough said, you sound like a spoil child because a few people dont agree with you, o no someone said your car is barely better, fact is a average 18 to 20 yr old with say 1ncb will pay at least 300 to 500 more in insurance on top of the extra 1k to 2k for the car, you can buy insure and gti and have alot of change. thats the point here
