Hi guys
Hoping for a bit of help with this one, noticed it yesterday on my 1.6 XSi.
When stationary, with clutch down and moving from say 2nd to 3rd I can hear a gloopy sort of sound which seems to be from the transmission area, I can only liken it to pulling a welly boot out of mud! I had to drive it home like this and I have no difficulty in engaging or driving in any gears. Apart from the sudden gloopy sticky noise, which is only noticeable moving out of 2nd gear, I have noticed no difference in the car, no whining in neutral when engaging or disengaging the clutch, or anything else untoward.
It has done approx 95k. I assume on the original clutch as i've had it since 35k and it hasn't been changed in my ownership.
Hoping you knowledgable guys can shed some light and tell me that my gearbox is not about to go boom!

Ha yeah sorry about that, i'll try and get a video or sound clip on later. In the meantime its like pulling a welly out of the mud, or a bar out of a tub of grease, that sort of sticky slurpy sound! Not helping am i?!
I'm assuming some sort of lubricant issue, transmission fluid or grease somewhere but not sure why i;m only hearing it in 2nd?
Thanks

does it do it when you put it into gear without drive (not moving engine off) if it doesnt put the front up on axle stands make sure there very secure!!! and run it up with someone lay under it listening to where the noise is coming from. id drain the gearbox and diff dry and put new gearbox oil in why your there it only takes a few seconds and wont do no harm. if its not that then its proberly one of the linkages worn again get the car up nice and high and just check them one by one

hope this helps

Chris

Many thanks for that mate, not sure, I'll try it with the engine off, I know its doing it idling and driving but will try with it off and see.
Not thought of linkages at all tbh, best I get it up at the weekend and have a fettle then.
Thanks again
