Hello. Have had a lot of 206 HDi's in over the last few years, however, have one here at the mo that is a little rough when started from cold. Its lumpy until you give it a few revs, then idles fine and is good for the rest of the day. Its a bit smokey as you start it, almost like unburnt fuel going through. Am I likely to be looking at an air leak or perhaps a glow plug issue? Have had the fuel lines problem when the car wont start, but generally it start fine. Any advice on lumpy cold 206 HDi's would be appreciated! Very Happy

First thing i'd do for the morning start is to thoroughly prime the fuel system (rubber primer bulb under bonnet) BEFORE you start it to eliminate any air in the fuel line issue and then see if you get a 'clean' startup, i dont think it will be a glowplug as hdi (and cdi) engines dont need them to start, i think its more likely to be air in the line............otherwise, it might be an injector fault but i wouldn't expect that to only cause a problem on first startup.

Remove the airbox and check fuel lines and injector leak-off pipes for any leakage.

Yeah, I am thinking along those lines. Had one before where the clear pipe would be completely empty over night and then in morning you no chance of starting without priming it. Had one a few weeks ago that had an injector fault, had noticeable problems when driving that one though, this drives fine but just seems rough to start, blows a bit of diesel smoke and once revved is ok. Perhaps its early stages of what I had before with air getting into the diesel. Will try that in the morning, give it a good prime and see how it starts. Thanks.
