Hi,
Well yesterday night as arrived home, I approached the house and turned the radio off, then when I turned in my drive I heard this horrid noise. Geniunely like a T-Rex roaring but far away (its hard to describe). Well since then turning the wheel past 45 degrees either way is difficult and this noise is still here.
Am I right? Is it expensive to fix?

if powwer steering is gone, you will find it hard to turn the steering wheel at the whole range, not only pass 45"

You know when the PAS has gone, you need both hand to steer all the time, and it fells like you are steering with 2 flat tyres.

Well I wound't know as I haven't knowgly driven without power steering. Any ideas?

Low power steering fluid level (due to a leak) will cause your symptoms, the noise you hear is caused by the pump 'scavenging' for fluid. Check the level.

That is exactly what was wrong. Took it to the garage, they filled it up with fluid and are going to annalyse how long it takes to run out.

I hardly drive our 206 as the Mrs uses it for work, i moved it on teh drive the other day & noticed an awful racket coming from the front!! Luckily i've had this before with 1 of my old cars so knew it was low PAS fluid!! Topped it up & the noise went straight away!! I've noticed a small amount of PAS fluid on the bottom drivers side of the engine, need to get it in my garage over my pit so I can have a proper look!!
I also think there's a slight diesel leak as well at the same side of the engine!! There was a very very small patch on the drive the other day, after a quick dip finger & taste check i'm pretty sure it's diesel!!

Actionman...I had the same problems before...well still hae the occasional spot of deisel...but the powersteering fluid problem..I would check asap...because if your PAS resrvoir is leaking because of the position of the alternator directly beneath you dont want it leaking onto it as it will eventually bust your alternator....as I found out coming down the mountain road with no power or PAS ....I cacked myself!!!!!!
