Hi, I have a 2002 peugeot 1.6 convertable. I recently brought a Haynes manual only to find it states it does not cover 1.6 16 valve petrol model (I assume my engine is a 16valve at this point) The manual does refer to 1.4 and 2.0 litre models. A bit confused now as when I searched on line for all peugeot Haynes Manuals none of them cover 16valve petrol. It is a 52 plate, is there an obvious way of checking if it is in fact a 16 valve. Even if it is an 8 valve it is very irritating not to have specific section in manual. Should I refer to 1.4 or 2 litre section.
Any help much appreciated

there is only one size rear discs for a pug 206. I think the 1.6 and gti / gti 180 all use the same.

Thanks, but does not really answer my question. Has no one else had this issue with Haynes manual?

There is no haynes manual for the 1.6 16v
Are there two rocker covers or one? Two = 16v, one = 8v
Look at the 6,7 and 8 letters of the VIN number
NFZ - 1.6 8v
NFU - 1.6 16v
The Haynes will be fine for all electrical, bodywork and a lot of mechanic except things related to the roof and the engine. However somethings you'll be able to refer too.

Thanks guys for replies. Find it a bit odd that Haynes never covered this, its not like its a rare car. Also there is a picture of a 1.6 DOHC on page 11 of weekly checks. Checked VIN and deffinately 16valve. Also roof is covered in bodywork and fitting but hope I'll never need this!!

Pretty much everything on the 1.6CC is the same as the other 206's. All the suspension and tranmission is the same as other TU engined cars. The only big diferrence on the engine is the head and inlet manifold. If you want to take it apart an early 207 manual (do they do one?) or a Saxo or Citroen C2 manual could be of some use.
