Hi All

Just had a quote from the PUG dealership for my passenger seat. Apparently the mechanism is kaput and so I need a new seat frame. They want to charge over a £1k to fix it (£750 parts, £300 labour).

This is on my 180, does anyone know if the frame is any different across the 206 model range?

Could I pick up a 2nd hand frame from any model and fit that, or would it be a case of finding another 180 seat?

Cheers

The sliding bit?

They are all the same as far as I know.
Probably get one for £20 at a scrap yard

Possibly. I'll speak with the technician when I go to pick it up this afternoon.

Think they said over the phone that there was some wear with the locking mechanism.

Thats ridiculously expensive! Whats the issue with the seat? Mines a bit damaged and rocks forward and back slightly, like there is play in something. Its only on the passengers seat and not mine so I know there's a problem and its not just the design.

haha thats mental surprised they can do stuff like that. Its a 20 min job max took my seat and changed the runners yesterday. Under heavy acceleration my seat shoots to the back of the runners. feels like I just hit the nitro like on fast and furious Rolling On The Floor Laughing

The first problem with the seat is that the mechanism (the handle) will not move backwards to allow adjustment to the backrest.

I can however move the handle forward to allow passengers to enter/exit the rear seats.

I've tried one or two tips seen on the site about trying to force it but to no avail.

Secondly, the seat when locked is not entirely secure. If i apply force from the back of the seat it springs forward (as though i'd pulled the handle forward). This sometimes happens as i drive over a bump.

I tried PUG because the local garage I usually go to didn't want to know. When I booked it in with them they didn't do anything other than say the seat was working fine. They also suggested that Peugeot look at it to determine any issues.

Thats quite strange. So the seat itself does not move on the runners suggesting the runners are ok?

Not sure how easy it would be to get hold of the mechanism inside the seat. Maybe it is fixable? I suggest you take the seat out and see if you can get inside from the bottom of the seat. Not sure about 180 seats but under normal seats it doesn't seem difficult to unscrew a few bits off and remove some of the foam (however I have not actually done that bit)

Is it the whole seat frame you are wanting or just the runners?

because a seat frame is £849.91 new from Peugeot.

It looks like they believe i need a new frame going by the price of things.

Lee: Is the 180 seat frame any different from other models?

I would have thought it is due to the shape and nature of the seats with them been bucket. Plus things like non-sport seats have a storage compartment under the passenger seat which the 180/RC seats don't.

I cross-matched the part number, and it appears that some 206CC's use the same seats, but I've personally never seen a CC with bucket style seats.

I'd attempt to fix it rather than pay all that for a new one. Or just pick up some 2nd hand seats.

It could just be a spring or something that has slipped or broken that you could get from some other seats.

Cheers for all of the replies.

I'll have a gander at the seat and see if I can fix it. I really dont want to fork out a grand to fix this.

Cheers again.

you shouldn't have to do that. worst comes to worst you will have to buy a second hand seat. shouldn't be that much even for a 180 seat

Well it would be cheaper buying 2 new bucket seats then replacing one!
