Well I've had a slight knocking noise for about a month now however it was still driving fine. The other day I was driving along quite happily when I smelt a burning smell, about a minute later the engine management light came on and then the car cut out. It started again after a few tries as I needed to get it off the road. It drove like an absolute pig and the light came back on, I parked it up in my work car park over night which was only a couple of seconds from where I stopped. Its now in the garage and im waiting for a quote. Not looking forward to what it is. Sad

That'll be the money hole playing up. You need to pour some money into it to clog it up. That should fix it.

doesn't sound like a coilpact to me.....had my coilpact go a few weeks back... if the coilpact goes then the car will be misfiring / running on less cycliners.

Well went to the garage yesterday and was told the problem was that the fuel sender wasnt telling the dash i had ran out of fuel so was basically running on fumes and my alternator bearings have gone so need a new alternator. Not as bad as I thought it would be.
