I was reminiscing of my first 206 after mentioning it a couple of times on here.
I never liked the 206, what with its wierd number plate and big black mustache, and vowed never to get one.
But a couple of years ago, when I was trading, I had dropped off a Laguna i'd sold and was on the way back when I popped into a reasonably local car auction and caught it near the end.
To cut a story short, £600ish including fees got me an X reg 1.1 lx in silver, it had rust on the tailgate, a dented passenger side (minus a door mirror), no tax, very little MOT, a missing parcel shelf, a blocked radio, the speedo didnt work, but it had all the books and keys and had only covered 60ish thousand miles.
As soon as I drove it I loved it and vowed to keep it for quite a while, I spent around £300 getting it in top condition, MOT'd it etc. All in all it was fantastic, I had a few little niggles with it but generally it never let me down, did 110 miles off a tenner and even the mrs-at-the-time liked it.
Eventually I realised its value, and I put it for sale on ebay, later selling it for around £1400 before fees etc, making me a good £300 profit. It was sold to a trader down south who sold it to an asian looking lad for £2,200 as a first car (according to his 'testimonials' on his site).
Anyway, this was perhaps 20 months ago. I just thought I'd check and see if it was still being used, and this is what I found...

So basically, it got written off a year ago. I only ever sold it for money reasons and really loved the car, just a shame that it happens that way.
there's no real point to this other than reminiscence, I'm sure others have been in a similar situ themselves.

It says 'VIC Marker' which means its a Category C write off. Could be an A (scrap) or B (spares) but I would have expected DVLA to remove the database entry. Either way, bad write off

It would be a cat C write off as it says requires VIC check
Cat A & B cant go back on the road.

I think thats the thing, it can be a bit like seeing an ex-mrs who you still had a thing for up the duff by a scrote and destined for a life of jeremy kyle. I can relate to that one too haha. But I'm more upset about the car.

Unlicensed for a long while is usually scrapped We had a Ford Capri about 6 years ago and sold it on. It's always shown up as SORN until last october when it changed to Unlicensed. Sad times.

I also hate to see any of the cars I have sold, after they've gone. A Golf I had for several years, went to young new driver about a mile away, and I later heard he'd lost his licence through drink, and the car was sat for ages in his drive, slowly looking more and more sad. It eventually disappeared and is now shown unlicensed so I guess its gone to the great car park in the sky
Hubby had a Corsa for 6 years, great little car, but decided to sell it on as he needed a van instead. A local chap bought it, but we saw no more of it for several months, until one day last year, hubby was outside his work, and a young chap pulled up and asked for directions. He had to look twice as he was driving the Corsa. It wasn't the guy we'd sold it to, so he'd passed it on - fairly quickly and for a profit no doubt
