Hey people,

Didn't really think this was a 'problem' just a quick enquiry,

I bought a key from ebay and the chap said it was compatible with all 206's if programmed, Now i'm not worried about transponder I can use existing key for ignition. However all programming instructions for the remote central locking mention flashing LED's on the key, and this key (buy the looks of it is from a later MUX model) doesn't seem to have an LED to flash at all :S

SSOOOO does that mean that these instructions relate to this key?

206 PLIP PROGRAMMING SYNCHRONISATION—BSI

1. Insert the Ignition Key.

2. Press the small Black button.

3. Switch the Ignition ON

4. Keep the lock button pressed for 10 seconds.

5. Release lock button , switch ignition OFF and remove key.

6. Close all doors and press the lock button 2 times.

Or do you have to do that for all keys anyway??? OORRR would the newer key work on my 1998 preplexed if i follow the above instructions and press a little black button (presumably on the BSI itself??)

Have tried a few hours googling but can't seem to find the information i need in a swamp of transponder coding and BSI information lol

If i need to buy a new older key and follow the flashing LED instructions then ok, just that i was told the key would work, or does it only work on MUX cars?

Many thanks, Lewis

Doesnt work on non mux or mux. It needs coding to the car like mrbsi said. That's just resynchronisation of an already known key if it stops communicating with the car.

You also need the pear shaped key. Not the one with the big chrome lion

Oh, so there's no way to get my remote central locking working without taking it to a dealer?

It needs to be plugged in to access the BSI to allow new / replacement key's to be coded to the system Wink

Its not a diy job unless you have Peugeot Planet.

You MUST take ALL the keys with you that you want to work with the car! ! !

You should have took notice on the other thread you posted in, where I told the guy where to get his key from as they provided a blank transponder.

Nowhere worth driving to then? Okeydoke, I'll ring up at work tomorrow for some quotes, They lady I bought the car from said the cheapest she found was £240... someone one else said £70...

Remote central locking really is a practical addition, stops me walking away from it unlocked (like I did last night >.<)

Thanks for all your help

HAHA, great, remind me not to leave anything in it. When i think it's in a dodgy area I take all the valuables out and leave the glove box open to show there's nothing in it... makes me feel safer lol

At least i know they'll never TWOK it, got a GPS tracker fitted under the hood Wink

I'd figured the chances of it actually going missing were quite slim, gets ya cheap comprehensive insurance though Smile
